Power is a beautiful tall black gelding with nice correct legs and hooves. He is also very well trained. Power is a sweet natured, willing horse that is easy to work with. His current owner is a man that has not been riding long. Power rides great for him on the trail, but he has decided the direction he wants to go is towards learning Cowboy Dressage and Power is much happier on the trail than in the arena. He has a long stride and maintains a steady speed in his gaits. He is relaxed on the trail even when ridden alone and rarely spooks. He did not spook at all when we rode him, but his owner reports that if he does spook, he spooks in place and will usually want to investigate the new object. His trail riding has been mainly at Lake Ray Roberts near Aubrey, TX so he will calmly walk through the concrete tunnel on that trail and walks quietly across small creeks. You can tell in his video that he is very happy going down the trail.

Power was initially trained as a show horse. He was shown Native Costume, Hunter Pleasure, Sport Horse Geldings in Hand, Sport Horse Under Saddle (placing 1 st out of 12 horses at one class A show in 2007) and Sport Horse Show Hack (placing Top 5 in the Region 9 Championship in 2007). He has not been shown for 4 years though, so to be competitive in the show ring he would need to go back into full training. Because he has been ridden mostly on the trail for the past few years with a natural head carriage, he is difficult to round up on the bit as required in dressage and sport horse classes, especially at the canter. But, because of his prior training, he is very responsive and understands all of his cues very well, which makes him a real pleasure to ride.

Power has the size and substance to carry a larger rider. He will ride best for an intermediate rider that can post to his long trot and is familiar with the correct aids or cues. Power has always had a show type home with a nice stall and pasture turn out and a lot of attention. So, a similar good quality home is a must for this nice gelding.
